On Saturday 10 March, Stella Creasy will be hosting a women-only event to celebrate International Women’s Day.

The event will showcase many local businesses run by women including Bees Knees embroidery and quilting collective, Healthworks Alternative Therapy Centre and DanceChloe who will be leading a zumba flashmob at the event. There will be light refreshments for all, cakes for sale from local bakers PlumBun and Crumbalicious Delights, and free face painting for children.

A community consultation will also be held about access to and quality of sexual healthcare services for local women.

Ahead of the event this Saturday Stella said:

“The event will be a fantastic opportunity to celebrate local businesses run by women in Walthamstow.”

“It will also be a chance to hear about women’s experiences of our local healthcare services. I am concerned to hear widespread reports from residents of problems securing access to contraception and sexual healthcare services locally and I would like to use the opportunity of this event to gather evidence on this.”

“I hope local women will join me for this important event to help ensure women in Walthamstow secure the services they need and to celebrate International Women’s Day.”

The event will be held at the Vestry House Museum from 11-1pm on Saturday 10 March and is free for all local women to drop in during this time.
