I believe communication needs to be two way. That's why I've been taking Urdu lessons so that I can talk about the priorities for Walthamstow with many of our local residents. I'm struck that like with German the verb goes at the end of the sentence. As I learn more verbs and phrases I wondered if this was an odd linguistic anomaly or occurs in other languages too.
I'm also learning a little Guajarati but at present my grammar isn't good enough to compare! I'm always looking for people to practise my language skills with locally so if you'd like to help me improve my Urdu please do get in touch.
At the Walthamstow Festival on the 2nd September 2007 I'm organising a stall to raise funds for the Forest Philharmonic. Founded in 1964, it is rated as one the country's leading community orchestras. It is a performance and training orchestra with members drawn from diverse backgrounds including music students, teachers, freelancers and amateurs. The group face a number of financial difficulties so the stall will raise funds to help ensure the Orchestra can keep playing in Walthamstow. The stall will be at the High Street end of Cleveland Park Avenue and is kindly being supported by the Cleveland Park Residents Association (http://www.clevelandpark.co.uk/) as well as local Labour party members. It will be next to the What's Cookin' music stage, which will showcase the best in
Hello - on this site you can learn more about me, why I'm standing for selection to be the Labour candidate for Walthamstow at the next election and discuss what our priorities for the constituency should be. You can also see some footage of me in action with local residents, as well as hear their views on what they think matters for Walthamstow.
But even though it's my picture on this website, my ability is only half the story. There's someone else vital in this process. The members of the local Labour party will get to decide what sort of fight we put up at the next general election as we seek to keep Walthamstow Labour. I hope that over the years I have demonstrated that I'm well placed to build on the hard work of Neil Gerrard and every member of our CLP in working with and for the people of Walthamstow. I'm a local candidate with a track record of success in making things happen in our area and a demonstrated commitment to our Party and its values. I'd love your views on this site and my campaigns so please do comment or get in touch!
